„Uzi Freyja“ klingt wie ein Manifest, das den rasanten Flow einer Waffe (Uzi) mit der nordischen Göttin der Liebe, des Krieges, der Fruchtbarkeit und der Sexualität (Freyja) verbindet. Ihr aussergewöhnliches Charisma ist eines der herausragenden Merkmale ihrer Musik: Uzi Freyja wirkt selbstbewusst, souverän und voller Selbstsicherheit.
———-
“Uzi Freyja” is pronounced like a statement of intent, fusing the rapid-fire flow of a weapon (Uzi) with the Norse
goddess of love, war, fertility, and sex (Freyja).
Unbound by convention and fiercely determined, talented and fearless, Uzi Freyja lives fast and loud.
Winner of the 2023 Prix Chorus des Hauts-de-Seine, she has always taken the stage with incandescent energy. In just two years, she has performed at a string of major French and European festivals (Dour, Francofolies, Vieilles Charrues, Rock en Seine, Eurosonic, MaMA Festival, Reeperbahn…), electrifying crowds with her blend of hip-hop vocals, punk fury, and experimental electronic structures. Her extraordinary charisma is one of the standout features of her music: Uzi Freyja comes across as confident, commanding, and powerfully self-assured.
Constantly reinventing herself, Uzi Freyja has chosen to tell her own story in her debut album. Singing in both English and French, she addresses Bhelize, her inner child, guiding her through an emotionally charged, transformative journey.
This first album is also a moment of emancipation, where she reshapes her artistic family in her own image. She changes labels, embraces her desire to dig deeper into sonic exploration, and collaborates with a new team for both the studio and visual work. She self-produces this debut album alongside Juxe at Krumpp, showcasing the fascinating evolution and maturity of her sound.
Among her new collaborators in songwriting and vocals are Yoa, Baby Volcano, and Béatrice Dalle. On the production side, she surrounds herself with an eclectic and daring team that mirrors her own artistic spirit: Juxe(beatmaker for Nekfeu, Georgio, Coelho), Carbon Killer (a staple of the cyberpunk/metal scene), Labo
Klandestino(Soso Maness, Zamdane, Lakna), Hook & GR! (Muthoni Drummer Queen), and Vapa.
Her multifaceted influences — straddling rap and the broader spectrum of pop — call to mind artists like
Princess Nokia, Little Simz, Leikeli47, or even City Morgue. With Bhelize Don’t Cry, Uzi Freyja successfully brings the raw energy and fury of her live shows into the studio, delivering a collection of tracks that feel like self-portraits: complex, surprising, and electrifying.
